Playing Catch Up (Take Two)

Sunday. Woke up kind of late because my mom and I were both pretty tired. We trekked down to San Diego to hit up Sea World. I felt like the entire day I was wet and cold...such great times haha. Saw the show believe which brought back horrible memories of the repeat after repeat of cutting it for a project in editing. Talk about 4 weeks of the same music over and over again. My feet ached so badly due to Saturdays walking miles and miles all around downtown LA and then this day's entire time out in Sea World. We ended up staying at Hampton Inn...it was wonderful. I haven't felt like I was on a vacation in such a long time it was so incredibly comfy!

Monday. Head out to the San Diego Zoo. I really enjoyed watching and observing the simplicity of the animals and the tranquility of the scenery. I did a lot of thinking and observing not only animal behavior but human behavior as well. I tried to think from the animal perspective like in the movie Madagascar. This was my first experience riding a double decker bus. After closing my mom and i enjoyed dinner at a restaurant called Acapulco in Old Town San Diego. It was very good! After driving around i decided that San Diego's freeways are quite confusing! (Even with GPS!) I reserved a place for academy of arts university spring show for both me and claudia in a couple weeks. I got in touch with Eunice so hopefully we can meet up and do dinner in San Fran.

Started thinking about why I'm against strip clubs again, randomly. I was debating on going with Brandon in Vegas. Maybe to try and see it as just a job but i can't seem to. I feel as though for both sexes it is a demeaning thing. It makes that sex a symbol or item rather then a person. Gives permission to the opposite sex to disrespect, and I can't get past that. To each their own... That's my opinion and I can't force it on anyone and don't intend to, but I hold strongly to this. Not to mention I feel as though sex is a sacred thing and exploiting ones body around only makes sex that less special for two people in lust or love.

Play Catch up

Tuesday. I grabbed Starbucks with Claudia and then head to the studio to work on some homework. I did my midterm homework until 9pm. I went to Fatburger with Valeria and Claudia and then Claudia and I ate my place.

Wednesday. I had class from 830 until 11:15 and then I did studio until 3pm. I then hit up Guitar Center and Sam Ash to check out Reason and the Midi Keyboard Axiom 25. Claudia then took me to Diddy Riese up by UCLA which is Ice Cream cookie sandwiches. It was way good. I then took a nap because of exhaustion woke up and did homework until 2am

Thursday. After Effects I had my logos due and then the next project is a 15 second event commercial. I'm thinking about doing Living Traditions as my event. I hit up Quiznos for lunch with Valeria. We had Maya until 3pm and we learned how to animate by using blend shapes. We didn't have editing luckily. So Claudia and I just did batch and capture so we could have our homework ready for next week. While waiting for the long batch and capture we just chat with Lorenzo in the lab. At 6pm Claudia and I head over to Yogurtland.

Friday. Of course I do what I do best, and I procrastinate homework. I deposit money for rent and then went to Glendale Galleria to shop. I just bought a card and got free eye shadow from MAC. I tried Marie Callendar's out here and I'm not gonna lie, it didn't taste anything like back home. I then worked on my final project for art history until 2am.

Saturday. I had art history class. My last of this class! :) I had my final until 1030 and then at 1045 we head out on our walking field trip. We walked up to MOCA I didn't like their exhibit, but I did enjoy their showcase...I forgot who though. We then walked through where blade runner was filmed off 3rd and broadway then checked out the architecture at the biltmore hotel. It was gorgeous. We walked back to FIDM and then I head home at about 145. My mom had already arrived at my apartment and settled. She told me a story of this kid Weston she ran into on her travels. The kid has three bachelors degrees from the University of Utah, can hold a conversation with my mom, seems to have his head on straight, and then my mom showed me a picture of him...and he's fricken hott! haha I then hit up Lil' Tokyo with my mom and we had late lunch there. I drove her to Santa Monica and we shared a crepe for dessert. We drove by the pier and 3rd street promenade. I then drove over to drop movies off to Brandon. We talked with him until about 1030 that night and then i drove my mom up to Aroma to get chai. I came home and then began to burn back ups of all of my work

Life and it's Paths

Saturday: I had class from 830am until 3pm. First thing we had a quiz and then the rest of the day was mainly a lecture. I ended up just going back home and chilling at the apartment and talking to Truong until about 5pm and then headed over to Brandon's. We geeked out about our industry until 9pm and we video chat with Crystal for a bit. Boy how I sure do miss her!! I finally returned Children of Men to Brandon and he let me borrow seven other movies. I head home and then just had some dinner and watched SNL with Justin Timberlake hosting. It was hilarious!
Sunday: Watched 6 of the 7 movies that Brandon let me borrow. Yes, a total loser kind of day but I learned out here (which I was completely against out in Utah) is that sometimes its good to have some alone time to think. Watched movies and did some homework while watching them. Mostly animated movies. The Iron Giant, Robots, Flushed Away, Horton Hears a Who, Monster House, and Big. All of the movies were very cute!
Monday: Woke up and got ready to go to USC for the campus tour to check out the School of Cinematic Arts. Claudia and I thought the tour was awesome. USC is an amazing school. Very expensive, but I do like the aspect of the extra curricular groups available etc. The plus sides of the school are: 1. Like a regular university I can major and minor. 2. They have a career placement center that will help you to find a job 3. The student pride is huge, and so is the Trojan family 4. Because of that the career placement center has an alumni database of alumni who are willing to help you find a job or internship in your major 5. University vibe with the private school class sizes. 6. They offer a Master's degree which is hard to find for this major. I do have a lot of information to still figure out and to ask them along with some research of other schools, but USC sounds amazing so far and it definitely peaks my interest! I have at least about 4 more months to research before applications are due so I'm not too worried, I'd just like to have it figured out because I'm getting nervous with graduating FIDM in less then a year.
After the tour just went home and went to Target with Alexis. Claudia came over after and we discussed our options for a bit with the school and looked at information about other schools. Helped Alexis out a bit with her photo shoot for her class out in the pool area and talked to the leasing officer of our apartment because her boyfriend went to the Academy of Arts up in San Francisco and now works for Sony Pictures. There's just so many options, I want to make sure I find the right school for me.
Then had a roommate night out. Grabbed a cupcake from Crumbs in Beverly Hills and then grabbed a burrito from Danny's taco stand by the school. SO GOOD! This was the first time all of us roommates have gone out together this quarter...so it was good. (Truong mostly slept in the backseat but it was still fun lol)

I just want to say that I am very grateful for everything and I really appreciate all that has happened to me. The good and the bad. Yes, I've been through some pretty fucked up stuff relationship wise but I don't regret it. Not to mention, who hasn't been through some hard times? I've learned so much from it. I was at one time willing to wait for a guy to get his shit in order before I pursued my independency. That has never been "me". I felt as though as soon as I did pursue my independency that's when things got weird. I have learned not to trust as quickly. I felt damaged. I dated sure. But it took me a good year and a half to finally actually like someone again. It was relieving to know that I still had a heart that could work. I'm entirely happy with where I am at now and couldn't imagine life if i were tied down. No freedom at all. I'm young! I'm 21 and living life with lots of new adventures. I don't have to report to anyone and emotionally I'm free. I have so many options ahead of me that a guy would only mess things up for me. (Not to sound rude, but I know I'd dedicate too much time to him). People tell me I should date...But why if I have no interest in it right now? I'm happy being selfish for once and focusing on me and my career path. I'm the most ambitious I've been in a long time and I love it. I'm figuring myself out and I think that's what this time is for. I want to do everything and anything and I freak out thinking that life is all too short for everything that I want to accomplish. Let's just leave it at I'm ecstatic for the future and nervous for the hard times but bring it all on because I'm ready to live life to it's fullest.

P.S. I won a free fandango movie ticket online. How funny huh?! Hehe That stuff never happens to me!

Entirely Intrigued

Tuesday: I think during the day I mostly just chilled. Claudia, Michael and I had the stage in the digital media studio reserved from 3 to 6 so I head in so that we could begin filming our interviews for Editing class. 40 Fricken minutes!! Honestly...I'm not that interesting haha I don't have THAT much to say. After we finished filming Claudia and I ran over to iHOP for some grub. Once I got home I just chat with my mom about her trip out here.
Wednesday: I had Sound Design class from 830 until 11:15. Met up with Claudia for some Quiznos and then just went into the studio to do homework until three. I then planned Vegas for the next couple of hours...talking to Crystal, Jessica, Brandon and Kristi all about plans. Also found out that Nicole will be joining on the trip YAY!
Around 7pm Claudia called me to go to Santa Monica to go shopping with her and her sister Bonnie for her toy to model in Maya. We ended up going to this really good crepe restaurant for dessert. That night I worked on After Effects homework until about 2:30am and then Alexis and I stayed up until about 4am talking.
Thursday: I actually ended up missing my After Effects class due to figuring some stuff out, but Maya met early at 11:15 and my teacher was saying that I'm the only one in class that is on schedule. I was quite pleased with myself. (Because normally I'm the biggest slacker and procrastinator haha) but I'm even ahead of schedule that she told me I should start animating my model, that'd be great and all but I don't know how to yet haha so gotta teach myself that this week. :)
Editing was very embarrassing. We were filming each other in class and we had to have an opinion on each student in our graduating group...ya how embarrassing. Our editing homework is that we need to take that 40 minute interview and then cut it down to a continuous 5 minute cut. Great...this will be challenging. Next week there will not be any class, that's exciting, but then the next week I have 6 hours of editing class to make up for it...so I will have class from 8:30am until 9pm wow, that sure will be a fun day haha let's just say AMP energy drink helps me with these kind of days! That day is the day that right after class I will be driving to Las Vegas with Nikki...YAY I'm gonna be so exhausted so i need to pull ahead with homework haha
The previous day I talked to Claudia and Bonnie about USC and I was thinking about the school a lot. I found out they have a School of Cinema Arts and a bachelor of arts in animations and design. I'm a huge fan of that! The down side is the cost of the place. So I went home and that night I talked to my parents about my interest towards it and my father seems to really support it.
Friday: The day started off pretty laid back I just did some reading homework for art history and then got ready for the day while doing some laundry. Christine came home with Alexis so we chat a bit before I head out to Orange County. I met up at The Block at Orange in Orange County to meet up with Teresa since she's in town. We hung out and I met her friend Krista and her daughter and then we just shopped and grabbed some dinner at a nice Spanish restaurant.
I also set up a campus tour for me and Claudia at USC so that we can check it out a bit more before diving in head first into major debt lol. We'll see, I've had lots of worries and stresses about it so I'll discuss it more in detail with my next blog entry maybe :)

Movie Madness

Friday: I did homework all day. Read and wrote an essay for my Art History class. In between all of the studying I watched Stop-Loss and The Other Boylen Girl.

Saturday: I had class from 830 until 245, I got some papers back and luckily I've gotten A's on my past test and past assignments so far in that class! Always good news :) During class we were given a project to be working on over the next two weeks. We only have two more classes!! The project is basically that we are planning out an art gallery and we need to choose a theme for the gallery, what pieces of art, and where it will take place at. It's all pretty fun. So after class I went to the FIDM Library and checked out a few books and then came home to start on the project. I think I basically have most everything figured out I just need to actually put it all together, print it all out and write an essay still...so all the actual leg work. haha. I then read a chapter for our quiz that we have next week....3 more chapters to go!
For dinner I ended up going to Island's up in Pasadena with Rosey and Madylyn from Men's Wearhouse. After dinner we went to see a movie. We saw Ghosts of Girlfriends Past it was pretty cute. Thank you to Madylyn for paying for the movie!

Sunday: I woke up early and went to Anaheim for breakfast at iHOP with Kelsey since she would be leaving back to Utah later on in the evening. She offered for me to go to Huntington Beach with them, but I declined the kind offer because I had some work to get done and I was all so tired from the night before. When I got home around noon I napped until 3pm. Then I began my homework. In between homework I managed to watch Changeling and Australia I finished all of my Maya homework. The book lesson and most of the project...at least everything of the project that's due this week. I then began to work on the scenery and before bed began to watch Nights in Rodanthe

Monday: I got ready and finished Nights in Rodanthe then I cleaned the apartment. I mopped, swept, vacuumed, cleaned mirrors, and counters. Sadly I didn't get around to dusting though. At about 12:30 Claudia came over and then we headed out to Yogurtland. After there we ran over to Costco where I did some grocery shopping and got snacks and liquor for Maya Mondays.  Then we got to my apartment and Valeria met up with us to, we ran over to grab Panda Express and bring it back. We just chilled until Aldo came over. Instead of getting on actually doing our homework Valeria, who works at Arclight theater up in Hollywood, offered to have us all go to see 17 again. Ha, I think all of us were kind of skeptical but why the hell not right? Free movie lol...it actually was pretty funny and cute. We then came back to the apartment and just chilled for a bit before they left.

Tuesday: Today should be interesting. I have some errands I should be out doing, but I think I'll pass on them for now and do homework. At 3pm Claudia, Michael and I have the stage reserved at school to do some filming for our 40 minute interviews.

Homework Living

Tuesday: Went to Aroma with Zada because the studios didn't open at school until 3pm we then headed over to the studio to do Sound homework from 4pm until 8pm. I then drove Zada home to Westwood and headed down to Anaheim by Disneyland because Kelsey and Adam are in town with their school for a national tournament. So we just went to IHOP...it was sooo good catching up. I miss my lil' sis!! :) It was only a couple hours but all too good to see someone from home.
Wednesday: Had class from 8:30 until 11:15 and grabbed lunch at this pizza joint with Claudia. I did homework in the lab at school until 330pm and had most of my Maya lesson completed. Claudia and I had the stage reserved at 4pm to do our filming homework for editing class. We worked on that until 6pm. Zada joined us to do filming and Lorenzo helped us. We had a lot of fun in their. Then did studio just from 6 til 630. On the way home Claudia and I stopped and grabbed a burrito from the taco stand. Then got home and worked on homework from 7pm until 1:30am.
Thursday: Had After Effects class from 830am until 11:15am then for lunch went to grab some grub with Valeria. Maya class started late so I worked in the lab on editing homework until 1250 before I headed up to Maya. With Maya homework I was so proud that I actually got everything done and the teacher approved of it all. My homework for this week is to do lesson 16 nurbs modeling ...so i'm gonna start modeling a hello kitty toy. For editing I completed my montage and my lighting shot.  We learned about Sound and my homework is to do a 40 minute interview with lighting and sound. Hopefully some girls from school and I are gonna be doing Maya tutorials on monday...yes total geek out moments :)

P.S. The image is something I have created in Maya, ...other images can be found on my Facebook account.
